What treatments are available to treat Varicose Veins?

There are a number of treatments available for treating Varicose veins which break down into 2 types:
• General anaesthetic (GA) day case procedures that may require an overnight stay and are likely to require time off work.
• Local anaesthetic (LA) out patient procedures requiring little or no down time are the ones we carry out at The Mapperley Park Clinic.

GA procedures are carried in an operating theatre whereas LA procedures are generally newer techniques taking advantage of recent technological advances and include:
• Sclerotherapy injections
• Varicofoam injections
• VNUS

How will I find out which treatments might be suitable for me?
We cannot advise you over the phone as it is necessary to see the veins in order to assess suitable treatments. A consultation with our Vascular Surgeon, Mr Braithwaite, will be necessary in order to proceed with any treatment.
