Helping you feel comfortable in your own skin
Acne flare-ups can be devastating to your confidence. And because of the connection between stress and spots, your skin often gets worse at exactly the wrong times. We can help with both spots and scars, with a wide range of treatments that can be customised to suit you.
We don’t believe in harsh, alcohol-based skin treatments to ‘dry out’ spots, or aggressive antibiotic regimes. Stripping natural oils only makes your skin work harder to replace them, increasing congestion and encouraging bacteria to multiply, and long-term antibiotic use can make you and even other people in your household resistant to them.
Our approach is a lot gentler. We use low-energy laser light as a first-line treatment in most cases, and complement it with properly-formulated creams, peels and gels to unblock pores and help skin heal. We also suggest HydraFacial treatment to clean out blocked pores and allow laser light and home-use products to penetrate deeper.
Why choose us?
Only a handful of laser clinics in the UK have the Care Quality Commission’s endorsement to treat children under 18. We’re one of them. And since we got our first pulsed-dye laser in 1997, we’ve actually been treating acne longer than some of our patients have been on the planet.
We’ve been involved with low-energy lasers from the beginning, being one of the first clinics to trial new treatments for acne. Some of the work that led to the launch of the Nlite laser as an official acne treatment was carried out by us. We also now offer the Vbeam laser and a wide range of topical products, giving you the greatest possible number of treatment options.
As well as having experience most clinics can’t equal, we’re known for our ethical, honest approach. We won’t sell you treatments that won’t work – we’d rather refer you to a dermatologist if that’s what you need.
What does treatment involve?
First, we’ll hold a consultation to look at your case and your skincare regime. We often find that patients are using a product that’s making things worse. We’ll discuss your full medical history and examine your skin, then explain the treatment plan we think would work best for you.
We usually aim to get the acne under control using laser treatment, then keep it controlled using HydraFacial peels and home-care products. You can always come back to us if you get a serious flare-up, which sometimes happens during stressful times.
We also offer very effective treatments for acne scars.
Note to patients taking Roaccutane: although Roaccutane (a super-strength version of vitamin A) can be very effective on acne, it makes the skin extremely fragile. We usually can’t offer laser treatments until 3-6 months after you’ve finished taking it.
