Petition against de-regulation http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/LaserRegulations/
If you are against deregulation, register your concern. Please click the link above and fill in your details to sign the petition. Please feel free to forward this to other relevant parties.
Proposed de-regulation You may be aware of a Government consultation which is about to commence that suggests the de-regulation of some establishments using lasers and IPL machines. You can view the consultation document at: http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Consultations/Liveconsultations/DH_083519
If regulation is abolished your business could be at risk from ‘low cost’ competition using cheap equipment and untrained people offering poor services, thus running the risk of the media ‘tarring all with the same brush’.
In the lead up to the proposed de-regulation, maintaining standards and differentiation from your competitors will be of paramount importance. What better way to do this than continuing to assure safety and piece of mind to your customers in an industry where this may no longer be enforced.
In the interest of the safety of operators, clients and the general public Mapperley Park are against this proposal.
I am sure that with your current knowledge you will also appreciate the dangers and risks involved in using this technology.
If you, like us, do consider safety to be of utmost importance please respond to the consultation document either by returning the completed form (downloadable from HERE; you only need fill in the first page) or by responding from the Department of Health Website in your own way. Which ever method you choose, please do register your concerns on this matter.
If you would prefer to be included in a group response please e mail us directly with your comments.
NEW DAWN FOR MAPPERLEY PARK TRAINING!
We are Launching a London Base with a Leading Industry Figure Dawn Harwood, former Healthcare Commission Senior Professional Advisor, is joining Mapperley Park Training as Managing Director of Training and Consultancy to develop and grow our recognised and respected training Centre.
Mapperley Park Training’s interim managing director Gordon Anderson; “We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Dawn is joining us and bringing her expertise into our business. We’re confident she can develop the service we’ve been successfully offering, and build on it to really position us as a top provider of cosmetic courses. We firmly believe that with Dawn’s wealth of experience and the additional Central London base our cosmetic training offering will be second to none.” We will continue to deliver courses in all aspects of lasers and pulsed light applications, and the use of Botulinium Type A for cosmetic use, continuing the high quality training we have been providing the aesthetic industry for five years. We believe investment in this new training facility will enable us reach larger areas of the market and help raise the standards overall in the cosmetic industry. Dawn Harwood has worked at the Health Commission/NCSC for almost six years and most recently as the Commission’s lead for Laser and IPL. Dawn has been very involved with the criteria and methodology development for Standards for Better Health and the review of the Independent Regulations and National Minimum Standards. Dawn is also a Certified Laser Protection Advisor. Says Dawn: “I’m delighted to be joining Mapperley Park Training at such an exciting time in the company’s growth. The training provider is already extremely well respected in the industry and I’m looking forward to using that as a platform to take the training forward and grow the offering, helping to raise the standards in cosmetic treatments delivery.” Gordon added: “The growth in cosmetic treatments providers is phenomenal, and we need to place an importance on good training, as recommended by every healthcare review and all professional codes of conduct. This is vital for the protection of the public who opt for these treatments and for the reputation of the industry. In an area where regulation is desperately needed but not necessarily in place, reputable providers can take it upon themselves to ensure they are doing all they can to deliver the highest quality treatment.”
