Mapperley Park Training is an independent training school associated with the Mapperley Park Clinic in Nottingham. The clinic has been using lasers in dermatology since 1993; Mapperley Park Training has been involved in training since 1998 and delivers 3 levels of training in lasers, light and associated therapies.

Core of knowledge is a one-day, theoretical introduction to lasers and light and covers the base-line knowledge required by Care Quality Commission, Licencing Local Authorities and for progression to other Mapperley Park Training delivery.

The Masterclasses are master-led (Jo Martin; clinical director) one-day courses based around the technology rather than the theory. There are currently 3 one-day courses; depilation; tattoo removal and vascular treatments, each of which concentrates on the knowledge and skills required to select and operate the range of laser and light devices for that particular set of applications.

The BTECs are level 4 qualifications, awarded by Edexel and are delivered as a medical award; 'Laser, Light and Associated Aesthetic Therapies' and a qualification concentrating on depilation ;'Laser and Light Based Hair Removal and Photorejuvenation'.

In 2011/2012, Mapperley Park Training will be introducing a range of new functions and features including BTEC delivery in London, new internet based support for distance learning initiatives and improved support for BTEC candidates in relation to work-place assessments.
