One of the commonest questions asked by my clients with leg veins is "Have you ever seen anybody else with veins as bad as mine?" The answer to this question is, almost invariably, Yes!

Up to 40% of ladies over 40 years of age suffer from thread veins on their legs to some extent. For some the problem will not be too obvious, with just occasional groups, or flares of vessels. For those of us who have veins in the family, however, they can start in the teens or twenties and be quite obvious by the thirties or forties. I have even had clients with so many veins that there has been little or no visible skin.

The good news is that there is a treatment which is efficient at removing the veins, cost effective and virtually pain free. Sclerotherapy, which is the injection of small quantities of fluid directly into the veins, is still considered to be the "Gold Standard" of treatments for veins. The veins are injected once a month until the client is happy that her legs look good from what I call "normal viewing distance" and for most women this takes 2 to 4 sessions. Improvement takes approximately one month for each area injected.
