Mapperley Park News
Figures published by the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) this month show that over the last twelve months, there has been an increase in the number of people turning to surgical procedures, 7% amongst men, with requests from women only rising by 5%.
Vaser
The biggest rise of all has been in procedures to reduce so called man-boobs or "moobs" which have risen by 28%. This is a procedure that we can carry out as Vaser Liposculpting at Mapperley Park. The treatment is minimally invasive and, with our healing laser to minimise the small probe-entry scars, is a real contender for this summers beach bodies. All our surgical procedures are carried out by Plastic Surgeon Mr Harris Haseeb.
Blepheroplasty
Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, has risen across the board by 6.3% but we are finding that many of our clients are still reluctant to undergo surgery when there are effective non-invasive laser procedures such as the Pixel fractional Erbium laser. When performed with internal shields this treatment gives a significant improvement in skin tightening around the eye area. There is only 3 -4 days of down time after each of the 3 treatment sessions so it is something that many clients organise over the weekends. Blepheroplasty procedures can of course be arranged to be carried out by Mr Mark Henley through Mapperley Park and we will be looking to introduce these procedures in our own facility in 2011.
Hair Transplantation
There is also much recent interest in hair transplants since Gordon Ramsey allegedly had "follicular rearrangement" which sparked off lots of debate in the newspapers. There are two, quite straight-forward surgical transplantation procedures available and the single-graft technique has been carried out at Mapperley Park by Plastic Surgeon Mr Harris Haseeb for some years now. The procedure is simple but takes a long time and requires a highly skilled and supremely patient surgeon to get good results; we believe that Mr Haseeb is one of the best.
Lumps and bumps
Of course, we still carry out the range of minor surgical procedures to remove benign growths and lesions. These simple procedures can be delivered on a see-and-treat basis with any suspicious lesions assessed through biopsy, so you can be assured of safety and effectiveness in our delivery.
Surgical or non-Surgical?
BAAPS have also been reported that injectable breast augmentation - a treatment that we have never offered - has not proved to be as successful as early hype promised. There have also been comments made regarding the failure of many non-surgical procedures to deliver as good results as surgical procedures. As a clinic that offers both surgical and non-surgical solutions, I would, on the whole, agree with this evaluation, which is why so much of our time goes into research and trials of the various offerings, many of which fall by the wayside and never reach our procedure list.
