Due to popular demand we are delighted to be able to offer an official Laser Protection Advisor led ‘Core of Knowledge’ Course which is designed for delegates who require a basic understanding in the safe and effective use of Laser and IPL machines.
The Core of Knowledge Course is an essential requirement for those using Lasers or IPL machines in regulated settings and in some Local Authority licensing schemes.
Mapperley Park Academy provide certification after completion of this course which will be accepted as evidence by regulators and insurers.
We strongly advise that a refresher Core of Knowledge course should be attended at least every 3-5 years.
The popular Core of Knowledge course is suitable for all levels and backgrounds, including delegates with no Laser/IPL experience and with an interest of introduction into the industry, Doctors, Beauty Professionals and clinic owners to name a few.
The Core of Knowledge courses will be taking place at Mapperley Park on the following dates during 2017:
- Friday 31st March
- Friday 28th July
The course is being delivered by the well-respected Laser Protection Advisor, Stan Batchelor. Stan is the Science Media Centre liaison contact for the Society for Radiation Protection, is an honorary senior lecturer at Kings College London and is on the exam board for MSc Nuclear Medicine. He also advises and trains English councils, the Jersey Health Board and the Healthcare Inspectorate on compliance standards for use of cosmetic lasers and IPL’s, and served on the Health Education England ‘Expert Reference Group’ for cosmetic non-surgical interventions in 2014-15.
The Core of Knowledge Syllabus sufficiently covers the guidance produced by the Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency: Lasers, intense light source systems and LEDs: guidance for safe use in medical, surgical, dental and aesthetic practices.
