The treatment can be painful; the diode and Nd:YAG use high energies in a concentrated spot whereas the pulsed dye laser uses a lower power in a larger spot to achieve the same results.
It has been reported that following treatment with the laser, warts and verrucas that have not even been treated disappear along with the treated ones . This may sound unlikely; however, there is a mechanism that can explain such a result.
Warts and Verrucas only exist in the first place because the virus can evade the body's immune system. Although it is not known exactly how the virus does this, it is thought that the act of destroying some of the infected cells with the laser releases viral debris into the blood stream where it is then recognised as foreign and targeted by the immune system. This recognition gives your immune system a 'handle' and the wart virus can be completely suppressed.
Side effects with the Dornier and Nd:YAG are minimal and although the treatment will cause discomfort, the area is not usually painful afterwards.
In some cases, the lesion will gradually disappear altogether over a period of weeks. However, larger warts and most veruccas can be very deeply rooted and may require a number of sessions to remove. Although the treatments carried out to date have been successful, some clients have reported new lesions returning in different places.
Consequently, we are not able to guarantee a complete cure, just the eradication of the virus on individual warts and veruccas.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. Lasers have been used in medicine for over 30 years and there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that these lasers are anything but safe. The Pulsed dye laser has been used daily throughout the world for more than 20 years. Diode technology, while more recent, is well proven, being a highly stable and reliable source of laser light.
