The consultation is designed to give you the information that you need to make an informed decision about your treatment options.
Mr Braithwaite will take a full medical history and will assess your condition and your wishes with regard to down time, working restrictions etc. He will want to examine your legs whilst you are standing, in order to check for venous incompetence and may also carry out an ultrasound examination with you lying on the couch.
Mr Braithwaite will discuss with you the various options for treatment and make recommendations as to which procedures, if any, are appropriate. He will advise you in more detail of the procedures and any problems or side effects that might be expected.
Blood tests and/or check ups on your heart and lungs may be required but these are rare. You may have to have a vein scan, or Duplex scan, if the pattern of your vein disease needs further assessment.
If you wish to go ahead with any of the procedures, the clinic will make all the arrangements for you. You will need to sign a consent form to show that you have understood and agree to undertake the procedure selected; then it is only a question of agreeing a treatment date and following the pre-procedure instructions.
A consultation with Mr Braithwaite costs £150 and is payable in advance.
