19/02/08 - Smart Lipo - the less invasive route to Fat Reduction
Now that our minor operations theatre is up and running we are introducing Smart Lipo - a new and exciting method of fat removal, using a laser rather than a traditional liposuction tube.
This less invasive method requires only a small incision in the skin to allow a 2mm tube containing a tiny fibre optic cable to be inserted. The laser light then disrupts and destroys the fat cell membranes, causing them to empty out the fat, which has been liquefied by the laser. At this point the fat can be aspirated gently to remove it or left in place, in which case it is then carried to the liver, processed as normal dietary fat and excreted. Pressure garments and a low fat, low carbohydrate diet are then required for two weeks after the procedure.
Having had my lower abdomen treated before Christmas I see continuing improvement week by week and I am now deciding which area to have treated next!
This method is perfect for people who are not obese but have areas of fat which do not respond to diet and exercise. The perfect amount of fat to be treated at one time is about 500 mls, or two fistfulls. It is extremely effective and safe as long as it is in the right hands so all of our Smart Lipo procedures will be carried out by a fully trained Plastic Surgeon. Prior to treatment, all interested clients will be carefully screened for suitability and assessed as to expectation of results.
Keep an eye out on the website for more information - including pricing - which will be available soon.
